Diaphragm Pumps
 
  
Double
diaphragm pumps are positive displacement pumps, each
stroke moves the same volume of fluid. As the pump runs
faster the flow increases.
Air
operated double diaphragm pumps have a wide range of
uses and our found in most industrial environments pumping
a whole range of liquids from acid to food.
Diaphragm
pumps have many advantages including excellent suction,
variable speed/flow, compact, suitable for wide range
of viscosities and liquids, hygienic options, ATEX approved,
low cost compared to other positive displacement pumps.
The
key disadvantages are that they cause a surge of liquid
or pulsation which can interfere with some processes,
they are under constant mechanical wear which gives
them higher maintenance costs.
Due
to the common nature of double diaphragm pumps there
is a wide range of manufacturers in the market and many
companies find they have double diaphragm pumps made
by several different manufacturers.
