PUMPS FOR THE PRINTING INDUSTRY

The pumps used for pumping printing ink are commonly double diaphragm, peristaltic and centrifugal. Each has its own advantage and disadvantages. For pumping cold seal and laquers peristaltic and double diaphragm pumps are more commonly used due to the viscosity.

In the UK inks are predominantly solvent based therefore the pumps are required to ATEX approved. All 3 pump types are available ATEX approved so this does not normally cause a problem.

When specifying double diaphragm pumps we use DEPA,these are particularly good because of a new long lasting PTFE diaphragm which lasts approximately 8 times longer than standard PTFE and because they have a very quiet and efficient air valve.

For persitaltic pumps we use ELRO which are available as ATEX and Non-ATEX and work very well with cold seal and other higher viscosity liquids.

There are several centrifugal pump brands available including CEMP, Spandau and Powerwise. We offer these to suit the application.
