Submersible Pumps

These pumps are used widely throughout various industries and are characterised by use in pits, wells, underground tanks, lakes and such like. Two basic types exist, both have submerged pump ends but in the case of sump pumps and vertical turbine pumps the motor is not submerged and remains above the liquid, whereas classic submersible pumps are fully submerged complete with motor.

Submerged, immerisble and submersible pumps eliminate suction lift problems that occur from applications where the liquid level is below the surface level.

We offer vertical turbine pumps by Peerless. These typically sit within the tank or sump containing the liquid to be pumped. We also offer vertical column submerged sump pumps from calpeda. A sump pumps offers flow characteristics similar to single impeller centrifugal pumps. Vertical turbine pumps offer a greater range of flows and heads.

The more common fully submersible pump are more often used on sewage and contaminated liquids. The reason for this is thanks to a wide range of impeller options. They are of course also able to pump clean water, sea water etc.
